Bantwana Initiative Uganda was originally part of the global programs of John Snow, Inc. (JSI) and World Education, Inc. (WEI), where we operated under their guidance to implement impactful child protection and education programs. As of August 2023, we transitioned to become an independent, locally registered NGO. This move has strengthened our capacity to serve Ugandan communities more effectively and sustainably, while maintaining strong partnerships and leveraging our extensive experience to continue our mission.
Bantwana Initiative Uganda operates in various regions across the country, focusing on communities with tailored programs to address their unique needs. Our efforts span the Teso region, including Amuria, Katakwi, Soroti, and Serere; the Bunyoro region, covering Hoima, Kikuube, Masindi, and Kiryandongo; and parts of western Uganda such as Kabarole, Bunyangabu, and Kyenjojo. Additionally, we extend our reach to central Uganda through our network of partners to ensure broad and impactful support.
There are many ways to get involved with Bantwana Initiative Uganda! We offer both a Volunteer Program and an Internship Program designed to provide meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Our 3-month volunteer program allows you to contribute directly to impactful projects in child protection, education, and community development, while enriching your skillset and gaining hands-on experience. Additionally, participants in our programs receive guidance on job applications, CV writing, and career guidance to help them achieve their long-term goals.
For more information about current opportunities, reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at merida_nfambi@ug.worlded.org. Join us and make a difference while building your future!
Bantwana focuses on community-driven approaches to ensure the sustainability of its programs. We work closely with local governments and community leaders, build local capacity, and develop long-term strategies for program impact and sustainability.
