In 2005, Bantwana Initiative Uganda was founded to support the fourth wave of the HIV epidemic impact on communities that saw a massive increase in Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Since local registration, Bantwana has strengthened its collaboration with local leaders as well as focused community efforts which emphasizes holistic care for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). Bantwana has addressed compounding vulnerabilities especially those affected by poverty, HIV, and gender-based violence, which are affecting adolescent girls and boys as well as younger children-through parenting programs.

Our Programs
Our programs provide vulnerable children with education and healthcare, equip caregivers and young fathers with resources, and empower teenage mothers and youth with skills for resilient futures.
The SAFE Program operates within Western Uganda, strategically encompassing regions known for their distinctive socio-cultural dynamics and developmental needs. Our main goal is to prevent violence against children.
Resilient, Engaged, and Loving (REAL) Fathers is a comprehensive community-based mentoring program rooted in evidence and designed to address a critical phase in the lives of young men: their transition into fatherhood.
The Teen Mothers program, a program started by Bantwana, has emerged from collaborative efforts under various projects, including the USAID ICYD program, the SAFE Program, and the REAL Fathers program.
