Ending Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancies
Child marriage and teenage pregnancies remain some of the most pressing…
The SAFE Program strengthens child protection by empowering communities
and local governments to prevent abuse and support vulnerable children.
Through training, capacity building, and advocacy, SAFE fosters safer environments
for children, ensuring sustainable community-led protection systems and long-term resilience.
The REAL Fathers Program promotes positive fatherhood by mentoring young fathers
in non-violent parenting and conflict resolution. Through equipping fathers with skills
to build healthier family relationships, the program fosters safer, supportive homes and
stronger communities.
The Teen Mum Program supports young mothers with life skills, vocational training,
and mentorship. Through empowering adolescent mothers to become self-sufficient
and financially independent, the program enhances their well-being and helps them
overcome barriers, benefiting both their families and communities.
In 2005, Bantwana Initiative was founded to support the fourth wave of the HIV epidemic impact on communities that saw a massive increase in Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Since local registration, Bantwana has strengthened its collaboration with local leaders as well as focused community efforts which emphasizes holistic care for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).
Through integrated programming Bantwana ensures access to essential services at the intersection of education, health and child protection , engaging communities, families, and governments to build resilience and mitigate HIV risks and violence against children.
Our programs provide vulnerable children with education and healthcare, equip caregivers and young fathers with resources, and empower teenage mothers and youth with skills for resilient futures.

The Bantwana program interventions have been a game-changer for our family. The parenting workshops taught us how to communicate better with our children, and I’ve noticed a positive change in my daughter’s behavior. We're more connected now than ever before.
Thanks to Bantwana, I learned valuable skills that have helped me stay in school and focus on my future. The mentorship I received gave me the confidence to set goals and work towards them. I now feel like I have a bright future ahead of me.
Bantwana's interventions have brought our community closer together. Through their support, we've been able to address critical issues like child protection and education. The program's impact is visible in the lives of many families, and we are grateful for their continued support.
"At Bantwana Initiative Uganda, it is our responsibility to make sure our staff, operations, and programs do no harm to children, that is, they do not expose children to the risk of harm and abuse, and that any concerns the organisation has about children's safety within the communities in which we work, are reported to Bantwana Office email: info@bantwana.or.ug and the appropriate authorities."
